Due to the high volume and complexity of its work, Congress divides its tasks among Committees and Subcommittees. The House and Senate each have their own committee system, which are similar. In the House, Rep. Royce serves on two committees:

House Committee on Foreign Affairs
Rep. Royce is the Chairman of the House Foreign Affairs Committee, and has served in that role since January 2013. Prior to becoming Chairman, Royce served as Chairman of the Subcommittee on Terrorism, Nonproliferation, and Trade and as a member of the Subcommittee on Asia and the Pacific. The House Foreign Affairs Committee considers legislation that impacts the diplomatic community, which includes the Department of State, the Agency for International Development (USAID), the Peace Corps, the United Nations, and the enforcement of the Arms Export Control Act.

House Committee on Financial Services
Rep. Royce is a senior member of the House Financial Services Subcommittee on Financial Institutions and Consumer Credit and also sits on the Subcommittee on Housing and Insurance. The House Financial Services Committee has jurisdiction over issues pertaining to the economy, the banking system, housing, insurance, and securities and exchanges. Additionally, the Committee also has jurisdiction over monetary policy, international finance, international monetary organizations, and efforts to combat terrorist financing.
