Rep. Ed Royce's 8th annual Women's Conference set for CSUF

U.S. Rep. Ed Royce, in partnership with Cal State Fullerton, will host his 8th annual Women’s Conference on the CSUF campus later this month.

Nina Davuluri, winner of the 2014 Miss America title, will serve as the conference’s keynote speaker.

Davuluri, from Syracuse, N.Y., is a girls STEM education advocate.

Last year’s guest of honor was former Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice.

The event, which is free and open to the public, aims to touch on topics like personal finance, healthy living and career advice.

Besides Davuluri, a number of other female leaders will offer sessions on a variety of topics.

Celebrity chef Jamie Gwen will host “A Celebrity Chef’s Guide to Healthy Cooking;” entrepreneur Tammy Hotsenpiller will lead “Creating Women of Influence;” credit union expert Leticia Mata will lead “A Woman’s Journey Towards Financial Independence” and financial services expert Gigi Elmasry will lead “Deter, Detect and Defend Against Identity Theft.”

Royce staff members Sara Catalán and Jessica Kelch will discuss the work of the House Foreign Affairs Committee to shut down human trafficking and break down the barriers obstructing women and girls’ advancement in education and empowerment.

While on-site registration will be available the day of the event, those planning to attend are encouraged to RSVP online at royce.house.gov/womensconference/rsvp.htm.
