Rep. Royce to Host Second Annual Women's Conference
Lisa Ling to Provide Keynote Address

Washington, January 21, 2010 -

Today, Rep. Ed Royce (R-CA) announced his Second Annual Women's Conference will be held in conjunction with Cal State Fullerton's Women and Philanthropy Network at CSUF's Titan Student Union Center on Saturday, March 27, 2010.

"I look forward to hosting my 2nd Annual Women's Conference this March.  Last year's conference was a huge success and I thank all the women who came out for our first event of its kind.  I believe this year's keynote speaker, Lisa Ling, will have a lasting impact on the attendees.  As a Representative of one of the most diverse districts in the United States, my constituents will gain a great deal from Lisa's keynote address as she describes her efforts to improve the lives of women across the globe," said Royce.

Lisa Ling will provide the keynote address for the conference.  Lisa is probably best known for her roles as former co-host of The View television show, host of National Geographic Explorer and special correspondent for The Oprah Winfrey Show, which has featured many of Ling's investigative pieces, including a report on North Korea.

The Women's Conference will include the following breakout seminars:

  • "Stress Management: Achieving the Work/Life Balance"
This seminar explores the causes of stress and its impact on both our personal and work lives.  Issues discussed include ways to identify stressors, manage stress effectively and adapt a pattern of behaviors and attitudes that help reduce the development of stress.
  • "Financial Literacy 1.0: Beginners Guide to Money Management"
Like any tool, credit can help or hurt your financial future depending on how you use it.  This interactive seminar will focus on financial basics including credit scores and practical ways to protect you from identity theft.
  • "Financial Literacy 2.0: Make Your Retirement Work for You"
Learn how to make your money work for you and how you can avoid outliving your retirement.
  • "Eating Right to Look and Feel Your Best: A Woman's Guide to Nutrition"
Eating well is one of the best ways you can take care of yourself and those who depend on you.  Did you know your body requires different nutrients based on different stages in life?  Learn about maintaining a healthy diet.
  • "Keeping up With the 21st Century Digital Kids"
Addressing issues like sexting, online romances, bullying, social networking, cyber stalking, online predators and more -- this seminar provides information on how to prepare young people to be their own first line of defense so they can safely explore the Internet.
