Today, Representative Ed Royce (R-Fullerton) announced that Angie Harmon will deliver the Keynote address at his 6th annual Women's Conference. The event, held in conjunction with Cal State Fullerton's (CSUF) Women and Philanthropy Network, will take place at CSUF's Titan Student Union Center on Saturday, March 15, 2014.
"Angie Harmon is not only an accomplished model and actress, but is doing important work to raise awareness and fight human trafficking," said Royce. "Human trafficking is a global, but not a far away problem, with children as young as 10 years old being bought and sold on the streets of Los Angeles County. I look forward to hearing from Angie about her work with UNICEF to help ensure that no child has to experience the devastation of becoming a trafficking victim."
An American fashion model and film and television actress, Harmon currently stars on TNT’s Rizzoli & Isles as the title character 'Jane Rizzoli'. She is best known for her starring role as Assistant District Attorney 'Abbie Carmichael' on NBC’s Emmy Award-winning drama Law & Order. She also appeared as the lead in ABC’s Women’s Murder Club as homicide detective 'Lindsay Boxer'.
"The tragedy of human trafficking affects millions of victims, particularly young women and children, across the globe," said Harmon. "As a UNICEF Ambassador, I am working with the organization to make sure that every child is protected and that no more children have their futures stolen."
The Women’s Conference is a half-day seminar dedicated to giving women the tools and resources necessary to enrich their lives. In addition to the Keynote speech, the conference will include breakout sessions on topics such as personal finance, healthy living and career advice. Additional breakout session details will be announced in the coming months.
